They definitely control evaluation but, as you well know they do not control when somebody that is just better comes along and as you said there is always the obligation to get better. Seems to me a fine line requiring some balance as to when to hold the hand you have versus drawing another card and I suspect different coaches have different perspectives on where they draw that line. As a former coach would love to hear your perspective on that line. I am guessing it involves quite a bit of projection on where players are at now, what their perceived ceilings are and how fast you believe they can get there, team fit, academic fit, etc., etc.. Maybe also has some bearing where a coach is in his lifecycle. MY had to remake a roster to fit his style of play so early on you can see the reason/need for movement. My guess, maybe wrong, is that at some point we see the movement stabilizing at what would be considered a more expected level.
